Riflessioni ferroviarie, dopo l’articolo del NYT

“Italy is in a funk”, wrote the New York Times. In my opinion, something worse is happening, because Italians do not believe any more that the political class, any political class, will be able to solve their problems. Even the small ones, like the dirty toilets in the trains. Incompetence, unefficient or corrupted administration, but also bad behaviour by some citizens combine in a tangle very difficult to solve.
Smash: non ci resta che ridere

The Italian Vips don’t accept humour and are ready to sue the journalists who criticize them. A book about them gives us, at least, a chance to laugh.
Sabato mattina, alla Costituente Socialista…

The new Partito Socialista celebrated yesterday its rebirth with a meeting in which its leaders showed courage, ideas and good will. My relations with the Socialists have not been easy, in the past, but I am ready to place faith on the new initiative.
Grillo apre la terza fase della comunicazione politica
Sunday September 16th, 2007 | 08:33 am | Uncategorized
There are four reasons behind Beppe Grillo’s V Day success, (“where V stands for a very rude Italian expletive”, explains the International Herald Tribune). Grillo is a very talented comedian; his proposals are very simple (probably too simple); people in Italy are really looking for an alternative to the actual political class; and he knows how to use the mix between virtual interactivity and real encounters of his fans. Probably thanks to him Italy is entering a new phase in the techniques of political communication, where controlling televisions or carrying busloads of people to demonstrate in Rome is not enough to have success.
La domanda di Libero Grassi

In a public debate in Palermo, Libero Grassi, the entrepreneur who was later killed by Mafia, asked me if my journalism was more similar to playing tennis or ping pong. His question could now be put to his colleagues, who proclaim that the ones who pay the “pizzo” will be expelled from Confindustria.
Riflessioni per i miei 65 anni

Statistics tell us that living after 65 years is like a Russian roulette: on the average you will live for 16 more years, but this just means that you have a 50% chance of dying before and 50% after that limit. How do you get the best from life under these conditions? I wrote down a few answers, for myself: no regrets, choose only what is important for you, have a general design of how you want to “grow” in the next years.
